Mojo Dove Decoy is the Real Deal

On rare occasions true innovation appears on the outdoor scene, and the Mojo Dove Decoy is a prime example.  This is a battery-operated spinning wing dove decoy, and since dove season opened the first of September, I have personally tested this decoy on three separate hunts.  On each one I have been truly amazed at how this wing-spinner draws the attention of passing birds and pulls them in for close shots.

All three hunts have been around a large farm pond.  I set up the decoy on the bank close to the edge of the water where doves come for a late afternoon drink.  The pond I hunt is large, and sometimes doves work to the other side.  However, with the decoy, if they come to the pond, they also come to the Mojo.  This device is very effective at "funneling" doves into shooting range.  One or two hunters can't cover the entire pond, but with the Mojo decoy, they don't have to.  The doves come to them.

Thus, the real niche for this device is on a pond, in a large feeding field when hunting alone, or under a cross-country flyway.  Instead of having to try to cover a broad area, the Mojo Dove Decoy pulls doves to a central location.

The one place I wouldn't recommend using this decoy is in a large field-type shoot with many hunters.  I was in such a situation once, and the decoy disrupted the birds' normal flight patterns so effectively that one hunter got all the shots while the rest of us sat and watched.  Also, when passing doves spotted the spinning wings, they would zoom close to the ground to approach it, which made for a dangerous situation shooting at "low birds".

So, leave this decoy at home when going to a big shoot, but don't forget it when going alone or with another one or two hunters.  Later season hunts can be especially productive and fun, but it's usually difficult to muster enough hunters to cover a field and keep the birds moving.  This is when the Mojo Dove Decoy is really in its element.  You attract the birds to you instead of choosing a spot at random and hoping one flies close enough to shoot!

Take it from me.  The Mojo Dove Decoy works!  It's the real deal.
